Introduction to Pottery: Wheel Throwing @NewMakeIt

Description: An Introductory course to pottery. Learn the basics of wheel throwing and make a one of a kind personal project or gift. This workshop focuses on making a small to medium sized bowl, mug, or pot. You will learn simple techniques to create interesting shapes and decorative rims for your finished piece. Once you’ve completed the Wheel Throwing Course, you can come to our Glazing Class to customize your pieces with specialty glazes for a personalized finish. If you don’t wish to participate in the glazing workshop, we can glaze your piece in a clear glaze. All clay used in this class is nontoxic and safe to use with food or drink and all your creations will be ready for pick up approximately a week or 2 after your wheel throwing workshop. Cost: $74.99 + HST Meet the Instructor: Catherine Harasymiw A sometimes Pottery Instructor, sometimes Illustrator, and self-taught Screen Printer, Catherine Harasymiw currently works out of her studio in Newmarket, Ontario. Spiriting a BFA in Drawing and Painting away from the clutches of OCAD U, Catherine’s gone on to participate in a number of local, and distant art shows, including “Kinesis” a show curated by Twist Gallery in Toronto, and “Portal to Enigma”, a group show in New York City. Many of her slow-fading event posters can be found adorning the lofty telephone poles of York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.
