NACCA Scholarship Program

Description: Let’s come together to support Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA) in their important work supporting Black communities, youth and families in Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury and beyond. NACCA’s vision is “to be a community that is strong and connected, where Black youth are connected to their past while firmly stepping into their future, and where the town of Newmarket and environs are welcoming and supportive.” Donations will support both: NACCA Scholarships: These are scholarships for Black students who are involved in building their community through volunteerism and leadership, and have demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuits. NACCA will be awarding Scholarships of $500 each to selected recipients in support of their post-secondary education. One student who has overcome significant setbacks while excelling in these areas will receive the Iris Malcolm Memorial Award* ($1000). NACCA’s COVID-19 community response: 1) Supporting community members in partnership with York Region Food Network to deliver Food Baskets and gift cards to increase food security and access for families who are in need during this period of crisis. 2) Providing supports to community around health and mental health at this time of crisis and pain. *NACCA is a registered not-for-profit and does not have charitable registration at this time. Therefore tax receipts are not available.
